Lake: Blue Mesa Reservoir
Blue Mesa Updates
Post By: Browns Hunter      Posted: 9/4/2012 10:45:06 AM     Points: 3070
Hey everyone,
Just got my Weekend Warrior Outdoors Newsletter with some important updates for Blue Mesa. This is what Ryan is saying:
End of Season Dates
Lake Fork Marina
Sept. 16
Elk Creek Marina
Sept 30

Lake Levels
We all know the reservoir is dropping. A poor snow year coupled with high energy demands down stream has kept our reservoir on the move and us plenty busy chasing docks. Just to set the record straight, we are 51' down as of now and it is expected to continue to drop. However, despite concerns, Elk Creek and Lake Fork will NOT run out of ramp and you will be able to the use these two ramp locations for the entire season. Ponderosa and Steven's Creek Ramps are closed and there is a potential for Iola to close depending on lake levels.

Good information for all of us. Thanks Ryan!!

I was at elk creek marina on 1 september. It opened at 0630 and I believe it's open til 1900. It was very apparent of the dropping levels.

We caught a bobo in the channel from the marina to the lake. Once we got out to open water we hit the highway 50 side of the Cebolla basin. We got three hits on kokes trolling and then around 1000 the bite died. I tried locating schools and jigging but they weren't interested. I saw lots of lakers at 90-125 feet. The kokes were difficult to locate and the staff at elk creek said that the 4 year olds had gone up river. Maybe I should have gone over to Iola basin or Sapinero basin and tried there.
