Went fishing sunday morning to one of my favorite spots and had a blast. Starting castin a 6in zara spook right at sun up and had a nice suprise. 3rd cast down a weedy beach and I had a huge 40 inch pike come flying out of the water for it, he prob got 3-4 feet of air awesome, then next cast Bam he inhaled it. A 5 minute fight on 8 pound test and it was in, mean while I was yelling at my buddy (solocamzman) who was across the lake to paddle over there fast for a picture but his camera was dead. She was 40 inches no guess on weight but huge and girthy, I took a crappy cell pic with the lure in her mouth and said bye. Amazing morning.
Also that night before all this we hit up a bunch of the ponds around town and had a amazing time with some giant largies tossing loud topwater baits, I was suprised to see the size of the fish in these heavily fished ponds, some exceeded six and seven pounds no pictures but all fish survived to fight another day.
Thanks pikeNcoloado it's nice to hear from the pike guru. What do u think that fish might have weighed? It was 40 on the dot and I had grab it with both hands the head was huge and she or he was fat. I'm going back out there with my camera and scale this time so maybe we will see it seems pike are creatures of habit and tend to stay around the same place for a while in my experience don't know if it's true but that what I have noticed
