What is the best way to catch pike at RMA? I have been trying to catch a pike over 20 inches since 05 and have failed to do so. Any advice would be appreciated. I spinner fish and have waders.

Storm swim baits seem to work well off of the dam

White shallow diver crankbaits and spoons have worked well there for me.

Big spinners work great

5 of diamonds, with a firetiger husky jerk worked pretty fast as a backup works for me. Wife has plenty of follows with swimbaits of various sizes as well.

Both black and brown woolly buggers have been producing big bass and pike for me in the weeds and against the cattails on the north end of the lake.

Is that from this year?! Great fish!

I've been trying to get out there, but only being able to get at it on certain days makes it tough. I'm sure it's a zoo on the weekend.

Man look at that tail! Did you get a weight on that hog?

These pictures are from the past couple weeks. The weekends have been really quite since the end of June and most fishermen are fishing from the dam. I see very few waders on the weekend and by noon most fishermen are gone.
The bass in the photo was 8 pounds, 2 ounces.

Jarrett Edwards holds the record at 11lbs 6oz from back in the day. Very worthy fish still though. I've been hoping to try my luck wading out there all season. I guess I'm going to have to head out soon.

Hey twistertail-
I've caught numerous bass there that were big as well but I've never had a scale. My biggest was 26.5 inches, did you happen to get a measurement on yours because I've always wondered how much mine could have weighed. Nice fish, and a flyrod to boot. I've caught 6 an 7 pound trout on a fly rod but I would love to stick a 5+ pound bass. Good job.
