Persied Meteor Shower
Post By: nightangler      Posted: 8/10/2012 9:56:06 AM     Points: 1243
Just a heads up to everyone:

The Persied Meteor Shower will be peaking this Saturday night. I have read there will be anywhere from 60-120 meteors an hour depending on the light pollution where you are at. If you have the ability, get out to a lake where its nice and dark and do a little night fishing.

What better way to see a celestial event that makind has observed for over 2000 years than to reel in fish while doing it?!?!?!?!?!

Very cool, thanks for the heads up I was not planning on fishing this weekend but that may very well change :)

Last year the meteor shower happened the same time as a full moon so there was not near as many as there should be this year. Hopefully any clouds cooperate. Weather underground says the following for Pueblo Reservoir where I will be with a few friends:

Saturday Night
Mostly cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm and a chance of rain in the evening, then partly cloudy. Low of 61F. Winds from the WNW at 5 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20%.

Fingers crossed!!!!!

Is there a time of night that the peak is supposed to be?

I have read the peak will be from 2-5am on Sunday morning but I think those were eastern times so between Midnight and 3am Sunday morning.

Here is a good link I found while eating lunch at my desk. This gives a good idea of where in the sky to focus your attention :-)

Thanks, nightangler. Some non-fishing related posts are pretty cool!
