Lake: Boyd Lake
I have to apologize
Post By: toobman      Posted: 8/2/2012 9:37:03 PM     Points: 673
To Whom it may concern, Today 08/02, I was fishing on Boyd Lake. As I was headed south I decided to fish the canal. I noticed a boat on the east point of the canal and it looked to me like he was headed to the east so I pulled into the canal and headed in. I found out later at the ANS Checkout station as the gentleman was getting his boat checked that he was planning to go into the canal. He said to me " Hey Thanks a lot I was trolling into the canal and you cut me off. I apologized and told him that it looked like he was fishing the point and I thought he was headed to the east. He just gave me a dirty look. It was really bugging me so if he is on fishexplorer I want to say I am sorry that it happened and I don't do things like that. I honestly thought he was on the point and headed to the east. It is an unfortunate situation and I will learn from it. I hope I have never cut anyone off and hope that I have never made anyone feel that I have fished over them. If I have I am sorry and please feel free to talk to me about it. If anyone is ever fishing and you see me out there please feel free to come by and say hello. I love great conversation especially with fellow anglers.

Thanks, Frank (toobman) Villa

Very big of you to apologize even though it was a simple misunderstanding Frank. Don't beat yourself up to much, you meant to do the right thing and no one got hurt.

Hey, with any luck, someone will cut you off next time you're on the lake and your karma will even out! Haha :)

Very well written Frank! Anyone who knows you knows that you are a gentleman as well as a fine fisherman! I had the pleasure of meeting your son at the Larimer County Expo this spring, and I must say that you have done a very good job of instilling your personal morals, values, and ethics into him as well!
Don't worry too much about the incident youwrote of, keep on doing the right thing and it will all come back to you!

hey, it's not like he had his directional on, and you cut him off. Honest mistake if you ask me. I would not be to hard on yourself.

Stuff happens. Whether someone else chooses to accept an apology or not is up to them.

I had a real hard time at BM this year with pontoon boats. No heartaches with anyone but seeing the front, back and trying to see where they were headed isn't that easy. Wasn't for me anyway.

Toobman.....just coming on a public forum like this and offering an apology
in the first place.....just shows that you were concerned towards a fellow
angler.

In my book....that's the definition of a "stand up guy"!!

ps......doesn't seem like there are many "stand up guys" out there that
will apologize....let alone ADMIT that they may have made a mistake
possibly anymore. Kudos to you!

Where is the canal at Boyd? There are a couple of inlets, and I know there is a submerged trench in the middle of the lake between the two halves, another by the pumphouse, and another on the north end, but I have never seen a canal that you can drive a boat into (such as the one that Lonetree has on the northeast side)??

Well exactly where you are saying is what I meant. Out of the marina, go right. South. That point comes out and you are in a 50 yard area where the west is shallow by the point on right to the rocks on the left.

That's what I meant anyway. Hope it makes sense.

The "canal" is by the pump house. South end.
