Opinions on PLine copolymer???
Post By: JKaboom      Posted: 8/2/2012 9:27:09 PM     Points: 922
I went to Sportsman's in C/S and wanted to respool 2 of my spinning reels with my bread and butter Trilene XL but they didn't have barely any bulk spools.

I wanted to spool one other one with nanofil but they didn't have that either in bulk and the guy said that stuff is great but he has problems keeping leeder tied to it.

So they had #8 Pline copolymer and it was even less than what trilene XL would have been. Anyone have an opinion on it?

I've used c21 and voltage. C21 handles like trilene xT and the voltage handles like spiderwire easy mono with a better knot strength. I'd do voltage on spinning due to the low memory.

I use the P-line florocarbon on my wife's and my spin reels in 10lb, line memory is very low & knot strength is excellent. I would think the rest of there products are just as good.

I use P-line co-poly on a few of my setups. Good line IMO.

Now I have had the opportunity to actually use the Pline copolymer in #8 today at spinney, 11 mile, and Tarryall. I tried fly and bubble, Kastmaster, and tube jig on slip bobber.

I have to say I like the flexibility, low visibility, lower stretch then mono Trilene XL, and knot strength. Since it is so flexible I see that wind knots happen a little easier and I did cross myself with my braided line and it got tangled up super quick. So far the positives are more than the negatives and it also costs less when getting spooled at the store than Trilene XL which I noted was not available (which caused me to try this stuff).

I will have to see how the memory is after a few weeks but from others it sounds low. This may be my new goto line to replace Trilene XL mono after using for 25 years.

do they make it in 2,4, and 6 pound test for respooling?

I am not sure but I will be at Sportsman's either Sunday or Tuesday and check.
