I have never been to aurora res. Anyone care to share tips on the lake for any species? I am bringing a friend and his son to the res later this week (evening). I would like to bring the boat (I know it is electric motors only). Any insight would be appreciated.
It would help if I knew what species you were targeting. But, not knowing that, I would refer to the lake page on here ( on the left side towards the top is a drop down menu that says "GoTo Lake..." choose Aurora Reservoir and you can read the recent reports.
That being said, I will tell you that the trout bite is a typical early bite, trolling the main lake with spoons and such. The walleye were hanging in 20 feet of water or so as of last week, being caught on BB with the slow death hook, and jigged up. The perch are everywhere, except along the Dam. There is a huge abundance of perch this year!
Have fun, enjoy the time on the water and be safe! Remember the winds can come up rather quickly on any of the plains reservoirs, and Aurora Reservoir being electric only you need to keep an eye on the sky!

thanks tiny - No species in particular - It will be his son's first time out so Perch will work. I will also keep an eye on the weather- thanks for th ehads up. If there is a small mouth / large mouth bite I might target those too.
