Fantastic day at CHERRY CREEK....

First, let me say my camera in the scorching truck died-sorry no pics, but a great witness to our events-MR. COOKSTER and his team...

Mr Cookster, thanks for your kindness to me and my boy on the lake, as well as sharing your know how in CC, and the perfect red circle hooks-awsome!!!

As aforementioned, cookster and I circled a great spot with lots of humps, we actually passed each other on opposite sides all morning long, cookster and his knowledge of CC caught easy 10 fish to our 1-2, with that being said, we jigged aggressively all morning with crawlers and leeches and landed 16 walleye-and to our surprise-2 crappies... we took those fatties home to eat... Then after talking some more with the cookster we BB leeches and the rig he suggested-red octo hooks a few feet back, and the strikes occurred more frequent-sweeeeeet.... my boy hooked the biggest eye 17 7/8 extremely fat but a bit short(he wanted that guy home bad but we released him as we should, and I explained to him the right thing to do will pay off for us-plus the legal issue to a 14 yr old needed to be explained-he's a good boy-a bit disappointed but understands why dad did what he did----conservation-legality=future success).

This homework lesson was a great one for me and my son-we personally slayed it today, perfect weather-met a great FXP member and learned a bunch.

P.S. when we left at 1230-cookster as well as us were still catching fish up to the time I started the motor-we said goodbye-and now have great memories of the day.....

WTG TGR3 ,we had a pretty fair day also, wound up with 4 or 5 keepers, and yes they were still hitting when we left at noon, I think I saw you guys out there, any way well done.

Sounds like you all had a great day of catching. Props to cookster for showing a new tactic. I dont like leaving them biting, you would like to think the fish would remember and pick up where they left off next time you're out there, but that rarely happens to me. Thanks for the report.

FOM, I really need to meet you guys again, and say hi, I was not sure if you were who you were on the lake, but I am trying to say hi to all anglers I see even if its just to say hi. I can say that the last time I did see you guys, you were parked I believe jigging or using a technique similar to what we have been using in chatty---close to where we were today, I am still a rookie to this eye game, but you know the web-your comments along with the other great eye guys are truly making this experience a better time for us...

As I mentioned earlier, if you would of seen my sons face when he hooked his personal monster eye today, it is truly what makes the whole experience the best for any dad!!!!

P.S. FOM we swept the area I saw you and your partner fish very close, I will say this, my son pulled a 22-24" eye to the boat and lost it, he knew he had horsed it a bit much, but understood that his excitement prevented him from landing it, he did much better after a pep talk, and landed some nice fish after. I also lost a 22-24" at the boat, because with the excitement of even thinking that I hooked a fish this big at the creek, messed with my head, only because I don't have all the confidence at CC yet, but after today, the wow and confidence factor went through the roof. We will explore other parts of the lake, for the obvoius reasons, but I see why you guys like the area we hit today...

tatonka, hey man, thanks for the reply, I hope we could pattern the area with more success, but you are right, one day they are here and the next, they are ghost-we will continue this eye game, and try to figure out more patterns-hopefully with success....
