Fatties
Post By: VINNIE      Posted: 7/6/2012 6:47:03 AM     Points: 515
Fished Spinney the last 3 days castin to rising bows in the shallows. Adult damsels, callys and caddis were workin on top.. The damsels nymphs were crawlin out of the weeds and should be a good fly under.

With the warmer weather lets all take more time to revive theses guys so they swim away strong.

Tightin up--Vin

These guys will eat 3-4 bugs before they go down- no wonder the big belly. The key is to cast ahead in his feed line and hold on. 2 and 3x tippet will land most but the weeds can be a problem..

Good luck to you too Steveo. I still think the damsels will be moving. the water temp has been up. The the fish may be liking the cooler surface temps and be aggressive...Well good to think positive. Have fun bro. I got to fish on the 4th. I got this guy and quite a few more like him

I2--I try to avoid weekends although there's plenty of space. The damsels are there and more every week. Certain areas will concentrate the adult damsel and they will feed heavy on top. They can't resist that big blue fly

Nice bow BTW

Vinnie was right on w/ his report, as usual. I have learned quite a bit from him about South Park Lakes. Thanks to you sir. Made for a great Sunday. I caught 5 and missed/ lost about ten more. 3 or 4 got off beacuse of a spool of bad 3x. Couldn't figure out what was wrong. Calis, damsels, chronomids, caddis, scuds, and zebra midges all were all on the menu. It was a bug buffet. Seeing fish launch themselves 2 feet in the air to eat those Calis was awesome! Tight lines!

Tightwork Steveo-- Everyone has their own way to fish but hard to beat the dry fly experience .. Site-Cast- Catch is addictive..

Nice shoulders on that bow--WTG

Hey Vinnie, yep the big blue bug was working. So was that big caddis you see motorboating around. I did not have a good callibaetis hatch today in my area. So I threw a tandum rig with the damsel & the caddis. Not all that many rising fish today but they ate the heck out of that rig. I was stubborn due to the lack of fish on the surface. I nymphed too long!! I switched to drys and bang bang. In 2 hours Landed 9 broke off 3 and had 5-6 just fall off. Not bad for light surface action. Any one that heard a loud popping noise... it was me pulling my head out... have fun fellas. Sorry I took no photos today.

WTG I2-- Been seein more and more caddis motorboats. They're easy targets for the cruisers... Even if there's a chop on the surface and no visible rises, they're still lookin up

I always fish 2 flys.. 2X on the lead fly--3X to the trailer. Give em a choice for brunch. Glad you had a good day--V
