I'm taking my family to Navajo for 4 days and was wondering if I can get some advice for crappie, and cats. So we can have a fish fry on sat. I was going to try a trot line, where would be a successful and safe place for one?

crappie bite has slowed due to HEAVY traffic and warm water... there still out there, but require some work in the trees.
Catfish- not sure my friend...cut bait and some luck... trot lines are sketchy up here cuz there is so much boat traffic... i would be affraid i would lose my gear... i know there are some big kitties here though... good luck.... sorry im not much help on the cats... i DO hear good things about the bluegill bite though... same as the crappie, and maybe some main lake spots a bit deeper...

If you launch from the north marina on the Colorado side, proceed south towards the New Mexico line. On the west side of the lake there are some some coves that open up, and I have had good luck for cats fishing the bottom back up in those.
