Went out to the Res last Wednesday w/ some friends, in search for some cats! Started fishing for our bait around 7pm at Valco. (Caught about 15 bluegill). Hit the res around 9pm...The night started off slow, we went 2 hours w/out a single bite! Around 11pm we landed 4 decent sized cats, ranging from 15-18 inches. At midnight there was a big hit on one of our poles! The fight lasted about 10 minutes!

My brother is the one holding the fish in the picture.

Very nice job Nav! That thing is a beauty. Just remember that you can only use the live bait in the same water that you catch it from (unless you fished 'em dead). Not trying to knock yeah, just a heads up.

Either way, good to see someone using (and succeeding) with one of the oldest cat tricks in the book! Much respect, pretty sure that you have the big cat fever now.

any chance you could tell me where to catch some? My hubby and I have been searching colorado for 5 years for some decent cats. Caught a bunch of real small ones and a 3pounder at lathrop and a 3 pounder on the co in junction but we love going to pueblo. How do you cut those blue gill? I know where I can catch a grip of those for bait

Caught them in the Juniper Breaks area. As for the bluegill, I just cut them up into 3-4 pieces, but i didn't use the tail!
