Fish: Largemouth Bass
i finally got my first MA!
Post By: basspirate      Posted: 6/30/2012 1:10:06 PM     Points: 274
Was out on the float tube this morning for about 6 hours. I started off throwing the crankbaits and rapalas that have been working for me the last few weeks. They didn't seem to be as productive as they have been, so I tied on my new secret weapon. I rigged it weightless and was throwing it on slop and between tree branches under tree branches (i got pretty good at side arming from the belly boat). Caught a boatload of fish, including this one. Just over 18 inches. Couldn't get the fish in the net. Haha. I was pretty excited, still am. I was carrying on like a kid at Christmas. My very first MA. I have come close a few times this year, I guess persistance pays off. All fish were released...oh, the secret weapon.........

MA is a Master Angler. A Largemouth over 18 inches is an MA. Colorado has a number of species that can qualify as an MA.

Thanks guys...I appreciate it.
Sorry, I shouldn't have used the shorthand version of Master Angled (MA).
On the fish species page, there is a list of fish and qualifying lengths..

Nice job on the MA! From the pic, it looks like he has a bloody tail? If so, seems like a very late spawner.

-Nightangler........i WAS using the dirty sanchez..haha....i went thru about 4 of those on saturday. i reallly am liking that plastic....just ordered another bag.

-Alanlf5280...ya, i was wondering about that spot on the tail. along with the shape of the body and size of the head in comparison to the body, i was thinking that this was a late spawner, but wasnt sure.
