If you have ever been to the south platte during a weekend in the summer it is a Mecca for tubing. I went last weekend and had no luck. Besides just the human traffic the algae they kick up fouls up every line every time. Better to just let them have it on the weekends and try for the week.
Big time ditto on too many tubers over the weekends. I wonder, though, if that has anything to do with the algae or scum that is covering our flies. I was out there two weeks ago on a Sunday evening and though I've been fishing the South Platte regularly for three years, I have never encountered this particular problem. I wonder if it has more to do with the extremely low spring run-off. I had to clean my flies every third cast. Finally gave up and went home skunked.
