ha ha I sure hope so! I have been frequently checking denver waters website to see a change considering they have delayed opening it like a hundred times, but as far as I know it should still indeed open July 1st.

Smokers and Fireworks and the woods dry as a tinderbox...no way Denver Water opens it.

anyone know any updates on Cheesman opening? Denver water still lists 7/1 as opening date.

Cheesman isn't that far away from this Waldo fire. I could easily see USFS forbidding entry. Sure hope we can get an official to weigh in, one way or the other.

By the way, it might be a zoo there. On the other hand, remember what happened when Antero opened the last time? It'd been shut down for a few years and a guy took the SR Cutbow (18#) on the opening day. And, the SR Brown was also taken when the Roaring Judy Ponds opened for the first time for the public. Yeah, it might be crazy out there, but there may also be some good fish taken.

No way I would be going. Fires+zoo+unsure about opening = cluster.

I talked to michelle at denver water a while back and she was really helpful but highly unsure about when it would open because of all the chaos.

It'll be a war zone like anything else that's within an hours drive from Denver, but like every single other body of water the crowd will thin out a few hundred yards of the parking lot. People only make the hard hike for meat snagging. I'll be there

I fish this body of water a lot because it is close to home. I wouldn't be blazing any trails to be the first to get there. Its like everywhere else just like ice off is supposed to be so fantastic yet rarely is. These fish have seen their share of hardware and don't forget. I don't remember any records coming out of it back when they opened it for the first time back in the 80's or whenever it was. It is a great place to go just because of its nature. Take your time/relax and enjoy. Forget the hype. Just because it has been closed for a couple of years doesn't mean squat!
