Animaal and I fished til midnite. He got into the bass near the boat ramps. Way to go man!
We had a great time and even got questioned by the Park Rangers for a minute.
Dmccull, my hat is off to you buddy! Thanx for cooking us all dinner and coming up with a great idea in the first place.
James, thank you for the very unexpected gift of lures and for agreeing to attend this outting in the first place. If you had declined, we probably wouldn't have all met tonite.
Hopefully everyone had fun and exchanged contact info with at least a few people to fish with in the future. I'll toss in a line with any of you anytime I can. What a great bunch of people you all are.

From the float tube/kayak crew II know a 16" eye was caught and a SMB. No luck on cranks or shiners/fatheads/juvey suckers for me (sadly I didnt get confirmed in time to get a goodie bag of nightstalkers amazing jerkbaits to try those). But me and sharkbite and a few other guys launched a tube/kayak/something that floats armada in the S side. I got skunked, some good hits on my shiners under slip floats, very non commital but from the look of the bite marks it looked to be smaller perch (different from the SW pond, they just inhale them) which abound in around the pits. (Maybe my rigging is wrong but I usually vary a size 6 baitholder through the tail (makes them swim to the bottom, they live longer), through the dorsal cartilage, or through the nose (they wont last long this way).
Colin Erdman AKA cerd - colin.erdman@gmail.com - 303-718-4576 Shameless pitch, but it was cool to see such a friendly, tight knit group in comparison to the a*s#11ho*** in their expensive boats who get all pissy and try to yell at you when you try to squeeze 2 between of them 150 yds apart. So if any Fishexplorer member needs web design/development, network management, computer repair, virus cleaning or scrubbing out your computer with a toothbrush I run an IT consulting business. 50% discount to FishExplorer members - it was just so cool how everyone bonded immediately.
Guys I talked to in their boats around 2am near the S weedbed near kingfisher/inlet said the action there was better earlier around 830PM-930PM.
I think it was just a bad week since I fished 3 nights this week for ~5 hrs. To top it off, the shad fry are freaking all over the place, they just have to be easy pickings and a preferred food source, with so many, according to basic fish biology, big fish dont waste energy chasing bigger faster bait when they can just inhale mass quantities of helpless shad fry.
So I am going to pick up a fish trap and pick some chatty homegrown shad fry up and try those out and see what happens. 3 weeks ago I was killing the eyes on shiners/fatheads - now they must have caught on to the abundance and acquired a taste. Just a theory.

jman good to hear that Bomber produced for you, that is too cool.
the nightstalkerstalker is a mystery and rarely shows
I spent about an hour with a novice that has never caught an eye. We fished two areas throwing just a few baits. No eyes for me, caught 2 SM Bass on a Firetiger Bass pattern Bomber.
It was nice to finally meet you, keep up the great catching man!

Nothing for me, I did have something break me off though. Thanks for the goody bag nightstalker and all the tips you gave me while fishing last night. I really appreciate it all. And thanks Dave for putting this together, I really enjoyed meeting some fellow FXR guys and talking fishing.
Jman, way to get into those eyes. For me well... I caught a skunk. It was a blast though. Fished from 11:00 to 5:00. Was an awesome time. Its kind of funny, I know you are always out there as well as I am, but first time meeting you. Glad to put a face to all the great fish porn you post. Hope to see you out there some time soon.
Great time meeting you all last night. Hats off to Dave for organizing a great event. Just the discussions on walleye fishing and chatfield as a fishery was priceless, nevermind the comradere and networking with new friends. Nightstalker - you the man! Not only are you generous with your knowledge, I thought the handing out of the lures to all in attendance was a total class act! Thanks again!
I wanted to try the opposite side and hit up the herron parking and worked towards the dam. figured I would drop a line in the water with a worm while I worked some cranks/jerks in the area, give it 30 minutes then move 50 yards or so. After 10 minutes of fishing my pole with the worm bent significantly enough to pull it out of the rod holder and I watched from 30 feet away as my pole went flying into the water. I darted over, grabbed the pole went to go set the hook and nothing was there... pulled the line in and everything was still there except the hook? weird... figured a large carp played with me there?
As for the walleye fishing... it was slow until about 11 pm when I switched to a 2 inch crankbait, all silver and pulled in a 14" eye, followed 15 minutes later with a 19" and 20 minutes later pulled out a twin 19".... I was out of there around 1 am. Wife was happy to see some walleye make it into the fridge!!!
Thanks again all, and I look forward to many nights sharing the shoreline with this great crew of people!
Just one more person saying thanks to both Dave for organizing and Nightstalker for providing his expertise and emptying his tackle box on us. totally not expected, but very much appreciated.
So great to meet everyone and put a few faces to names- looking forward to fishing with a few of you.
Right on guys thanks again look forward to the next outing and fishing with you all at some point. Any of you guys that would like to network click on my skipper link and leave your contact info. We can keep each other informed on location, lures, etc. but I will not share any honey holes, nor should you. Take care keep plugging away!
I will be doing the same with Cherry Creek res. its a top eye destination.
I would like nothing more than to see each of you catch/experience a 10 lb walleye!

First of all I'd like to thank Dave and James for the putting this together and goodie bag. It was great meeting everyone and putting faces with names.
I fished for a little bit after the gathering till about 11:30... took the kayak out north of the swim beach and trolled around the no wake zone. Ending the night with only one 15" walleye and a 18" trout. The trout was a surprise as during the meet and greet we were commenting on the lack of trout action some of us were experiencing this year. I'd say over the last 15 times out this year this is the first trout I've caught (not complaining for sure).
Both fish hit an xrap shad... the trout "missed" the lure and it hooked him in the side, when I was reeling him in sideways I thought I caught my first 26"+ eye this year, a little disappointed when he came to the surface -)
thanks to everyone I talked to and I hope to do it again real soon. -Greg

I had a great time with Jarred, Brent, Ox, Topher and his cousin. I look forward to the next meet. I'm thinking we should meet monthly at different locations for different species of fish. (Just my thought) I gained soo much knowledged and was excited to meet soo many GREAT people. I ended the night around midnight with Jarred and 5 small mouths. IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT. Thank you Dave and James for everything. This will be one of the best highlights of my summer. Animaal..
I had a great time meeting you guys! If anyone ever wants to get together and fish in the evening, let me know. I work and live really close to Chatty, and I can stay till about 11pm most weeknights, later on the weekends.
I fished from about 9pm till around 2am. Things were pretty slow. I picked up one 15" eye just South of the swim beach, one 12" eye over by the Heron Rookery, and then a 19" eye from the Plum Creek cove. Pretty slow night overall though. Nothing happened till around midnight. Once again, I caught everything on HD XXL's (one on the Ghost Trout pattern, two on the Firetiger) and struck out with everything else (Bomber's, Rogues, Thundersticks, and the one I got from James too). Kinda wish I would have checked out a boat from my club, but oh well.
I would love to get together again this fall! I think this one went about as well as one could hope. Dave, thanks for setting this one up, and for cooking all the food! BIG thumbs up to you!!!
I missed you folks- - major bummer for me. The heat was just to much for me to handle that day. Hopefully this will happen again, and it will be cooler.
