Post By: priceisright      Posted: 6/23/2012 9:08:03 PM     Points: 40
Thinking of making a trip again to the dream stream and I wasn't sure if it was closed or not due to the fire!! So is there news on if it's closed or not! Or if it's even fishable!

Thanks!

The dream stream is open and currently not in the fire zone...sections of 11 mile canyon were closed due to the fire...not sure if 11 mile canyon has been reopened or not.

Thank you C-DOG. Makes sense so that emergency vehicles do not have to contend with needless traffic.

Some brave men and women fighting our fires. They deserve the respect of us staying the he** out of the way.

Eastbound 24 is closed, and with the fire shifting towards Woodland Park, they have asked all businesses on the eastern side of woodland park to shut down and enter Standby mode for evacuation, so as Alan stated they might of closed 24 now...the dream stream is still open... here is a link if you wish to watch and track the fire and evacuations.

I suspect, Price Is Right, that you're mixing and matching the two fires. The Springer fire, from last weekend, messed up travel around Lake George and ElevenMile. That fire is in the mop up stages now and the roads are all open.
The second fire, called the Waldo Canyon fire, started yesterday, 6/23. As of right now, CO 24 is closed both ways between Colorado Springs and Woodland Park. Rampart Range Road is closed in places. But, for you, coming from Denver, no impact to you. Nasty smoke, but it won't affect your fishing on the Dream Stream.

-- I fished ElevenMile yesterday. Lot of people fishing the Dream Stream, too. The roads were all "clean and green" in the Spinney/ElevenMile area.
Yes, I did submit a lake update for the conditions reports. Water was 60 at the surface and we caught a number of trout 10-20' down.
