Got up to one of my favorite high-mountain holes Monday morning with my brother and we had a blast! Made it to the water on schedule at 7:30 and the bite was on, as small brookies were taking flies off the surface. It looked like rain! We fished one lake and found the fish to be a bit stunted and moved to another, where they were full-bodied and beautiful. I am always taken aback by the colors of these fish. The pictures don't do them justice.
We were catching 12" brook trout on most any tackle: spoons, worms, taz devils, spinners. Included is the video of a quick C&R.
A couple more pics gorgeous scenery up there!. CU feel free to email me and we can trade spots or something! Conditions are ripe in the high mountain locations this time of year and a light snowpack means dry trails almost everywhere!
