Called my son to go on our first catfish outing this year to our favivorite ponds in Chatfield Reservoir. The day started off a bit slow, we caught a few decent size perch, but it soon got much better. This nice size cat hit my son's line almost at the same time he sat down to light his cigar. We immediately knew that it was no perch on the line. The cat bent the poll and almost uprooted the rod holder but he got there just in time. The cat was hooked using shrimp bait at around 8 PM. Afer a good fight he managed to bring it up close enough for me to use my net to pull it out of the water. The fish was kind enough to pose for a pictures on the condition he would be released immediately...lol, we agreed.
My son was vey pleased with his catch as he had lost the fight to two big cats lats summer. Here a couple of pics

What type of rig you use for your shrimp baits? Like a slip rig with a swivel and an egg wt? What size hook 3/0 circle hook?
