Lake: Green Mountain Reservoir
Heeney Boat Launch
Post By: Colofisher      Posted: 6/13/2012 2:22:30 PM     Points: 551
I know that Green Mountain is still pretty low. I've only been out on a boat once there and we launched from the McDonald Flats ramp.

For those of you that have more experience there, would I be able to launch a 18' pontoon boat from the Heeney ramp? I'm also curious what fees are associated with that ramp?

From the 6/5/12 conditions report (historical reports are available to FxR plus members)

Cannot launch at all from McD flats as the ramp is totally out of the water. At Heney you need to be very careful as the ramp (yeah) is very steep.

And the reservoir has come up a couple ft since then, to 22 ft below capacity.

I did read that, I just wasn't sure if the Heeney ramp is suitable for a larger boat?

It's tight and parking can be an issue, but I have launched our 20' ski/fish there. It is steep also so 4WD to pull something heavy back out is probably best. I'd be more concerned about parking than anything.

I launch my 18 ft pontoon several times a week. Need4x4 to get out. Fished today, found lots of rainbowa in front of Catarac creek about 10 ft down. Macks were awsome until this front came in. Should pick up soon. About 55 ft down. Largest 7 lbs but still fun.
