After a nice fishing trip to Navajo Lake (if interested see that POST) and a week with trolling motor maintenance issues, I finally got out to Chatfield. Since this is normally prime smallie season there, I took my Lady along as she likes CATCHING far more than just FISHING. Besides, we wanted to try our her new Zebco 33 Gold reel and rod I got her for Valentines Day (she is a great sport). We headed for the Dam face about 11:20 AM with tube jigs. She was not dissappointed. She landed the first smallie before I got the trolling motor set up and was ahead of me 6 to 1 in a few minutes (picture). We fished for under 3 hours and averaged more than one hard fighting smallie per 5 min. In all we landed and released 36. The biggest was a 15 (picture), with about 7 over 13. Guess what? My Lady wants to go CATCHING again next week. Can you blame her?
