Barr walleyes
Post By: Skidmark      Posted: 6/11/2012 11:15:48 AM     Points: 597
We started by going to Jackson Sunday. Decided not to put the boat on the water because of the wind. Also the dock is damaged and not in the water. We headed to Barr...good decision. Started trolling cranks and caught a decent trout in about 5 minutes. We did a lot more trolling without much luck so we switched to bottom bouncers. After much searching we got into some walleyes. Ended up with 6 of them including a 21". Ended the day with a decent perch.

Skid - Nice work.

We fished Barr on Friday night with ColoradoRay - we didn't find any walleyes despite searching in front of the boat ramp and along the weed lines (due South from the ramp and SW). Caught two wipers on cranks but no wallyeyes. You mind sharing the general area where you found walleys to be holding? Or at least the type of terrain they were holding in? We didn't see much structure in there except an occasional channel or hump - most areas seems to have very gradual rises/falls and a lot of flats. Very shallow in the middle (surpirsing) - didn't see that on the contour map that I have!

Any size to the wipers? That's what we started out for. That shallow area in the middle can be a good place at times. We found the walleyes on humps about 15 ft. deep.

I thought for sure that shallow area in the middle would be where they would come for a meal at night, but we fished all around it with jerk baits, jiggs, and leeches under a bobber without any walleye strikes whatsoever....

The wipers were just under 20inches
