Lake: Brush Hollow Reservoir
Brush Blue Gills

Anyone ever seen a decent sized on out there? It looks pretty over populated to me and I was thinking about taking some home every few trips to help the population. Pretty new to the lake but I see an abundance of pan fish and I'm wondering if they are stunted.

I have been fishing there for years and never caught a blue gill bigger than 4 inches. With the water level in constant flux there it may cause them to get stunted. Just a WAG though. Good luck

I believe I've caught some 8'' plus there, on very small lures like Kastmasters and bitsy minnows, in addition to worms under a bobber. Wouldn't be surprised if someone caught a Master Angler fish out of there.

Ok, I will probably leave the little ones alone. My youngest son can't eat the walleye out of there so I might grab a few for him to eat when I head out there. Is this a stocked walleye lake?

the last walleye stocking was in 2008, if you want more info use this link to the DOW site:

It would be nice to see the DOW update this info.

I have only seen small ones there. One night I parked my yak an artificial fish shelter and just watched a hundred little ones but nothing big.

I have not caught any decent bluegill out of there ever. I have caught some really nice perch though from shore on a couple of occasions. I went fishing on Monday and got into some nice bass. I managed to land the first one that was 15 inches and lost a big ole hog right at the shore line. The bluegill and perch were crazy today but all of them were tiny!

Ok, I'm new to the stocked walleye stuff. Will a stocked walleye spawn? Just curious because all the fish in there seem to be the same size.

I can not seem to find the link on DOW for you! Anyways if I remember it correctly it is 2-3years before walleye can spawn.

another question might be is the lake suitable for them to spawn there ?

It has been a few years but I have caught some 8-10 inch gills out of there. Then the secret was to get out past the small ones and find a piece of structure, a log, and you should be able to get into larger ones.
