Haven't posted here for awhile but we don't usually do much summer fishing. We bought a new trailer so we had to try it out and headed to 11 Mile for our 1st trip out since it isn't far from home if all didn't go just right. We arrived Friday afternoon and set up camp and fished off and on in the afternoon. People came and people went all afternoon, like grand central station.
Friday afternoon I caught the first fish at 16 1/2" and Jeff caught a 15" fish right after dark. We tried night fishing and had alot of bites but didn't catch anything.
Went out the next morning and caught a 19" trout at about 10am and tried night fishing again, giving it up at about 10:30pm.
Knowing I had one more day to accomplish my fishing goals, I set the alarm and got up at the crack of dawn to secure my spot on the shore. I wanted to catch a big fish and catch my limit. Jeff decided he would stay in the warm bed with Max the dog....so I headed out....
I was the first and only one out on the water and had just barely got both poles out at about 5:30am and I get the bite I was waiting for. Wham! This fish hit hard and bent my mighty Rhino rod over hard and I knew it was a good fish. The fight was now on, the fish was peeling off line putting up a noble fight. After several minutes of peeling and running, and peeling and running I finally managed to get it in the net. This cutbow was 24" and about 6lbs...and definitely worth losing sleep over. :)By 8am I was off, back to camp with my limit after catching another 17" bow.
So, a wonderful weekend with the husband, away from work, tv, computer and phones...and a great fishing weekend...and the new trailer was awesome, everything worked as it should.
