Lake: Gross Reservoir
Camping at Gross Res???
Post By: spicyhombre      Posted: 6/8/2012 9:32:06 AM     Points: 134
How is the camping at Gross Reservoir? I like primitive camping and imagine this is the case. Wondering about access. The Denver Water site says high clearance vehicle needed. I have a Subaru Outback. This usually is plenty when they say high clearance but you never know until you get there.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

If your going to the lake then ur suby will work. However they close n lock the gates so i dont think u can camp there.

I camped there two years ago during deer season. You have to go in through the west gate. It's primitive and you'll need 4wd.

I talked to the ranger last week and said the back way was open. You can't camp right on the lake anymore (only within a quarter of a mile away I guess). I won't camp there again..I went last year and it was a zoo. Especially if they made the roads more accessible this year although I haven't checked them out.
