Lake: Steamboat Lake
going to steamboat lake 6/8
Post By: badbass      Posted: 6/5/2012 10:15:56 PM     Points: 0
I am heading up to steamboat lake this weekend fishing from shore and boat. Any help with locations to fish and lures to use would be great.
Thanks

I haven't personally fished Steamboat, but you should have decent sucess on typical trout baits/lures. I would expect good evening/early morning action with flies, a fly and bubble rig is a good choice, try ant patterns or other 14-12 dark nymphs.

Good luck

I just went there last weekend, The weather was amazing, I never caught anything big but the10-14" bite was nonstop. The water temp was 62-64 DEGF.
I fished in the coves early in the morning with some Dynamic HDs, did well that way, then trolled all over the lake the rest of the day.
There was one heck of a hatch going on so flies might be the way to get the big guys biting.

Overall I can't wait to go back, maybe in the fall. What a beautiful place.
