For fly rod: backstabber carp fly, or any small light weight crayfish pattern. Leeches or minnows in some ponds or lakes, even dry flies if they are eating on top (so I hear). Gotta land it on their dinner plate without spooking them, and then detect the strike before they spit it out. Look for the ones that are actively feeding with their tails in the air, noses in the mud.
