River: Cache La Poudre River (Fort Collins Area)
Fish: Brown Trout
morning on the Poudre

Love going out in the morning and having the river to myself. Water level was definately higher than when we were out Monday PM. There were a few midges hatching and some very sparse BWO. I was using a double nymph rig with chartreuse copper john (1fish caught) and bead head G.R. Hares ear (5 fish caught). Mostly small fish in the 8 inch range and a couple of 10-12 inchers. I fished from around 6am-9am. Water is fast and tea colored, but fairly clear. Hard to get and keep nymphs down. That being said probably a third of the fish caught were on the swing at the end of the drift.

Thanks for the conditions reports. It keeps reminding me to get that section of river activated.

Thanks Flyrodn, it's one of the reasons I post to the forum as well, since I can't view conditions in town. On a side note, I'd love to know of some your favorite carp flies for the ponds in the Natural Areas around here. Feel free to PM me.
