Fish: Black Crappie
Crappie ?!?

Never caught big crappie before but am still trying. i am heading out friday evening to fish out of a belly boat at quail lake for those crappie. i will have a fly rod and 2 spinning reels. what do you guys suggest i use and where should i try. Thanks!!!

P.S. i will also try to catch some perch if you have any suggestions on those guys to.

Crappie tend to be schooling fish, and in schools of similar size. So if you're catching small crappie, chances are there won't be larger ones in the spot you're fishing, so change up locations.

Favored tactics include minnows, or small jigs under a bobber. Slow presentations are often key. I like small streamers, and large trout nymphs with a long leader and a floating line.

Heavily fished waters such as Quail, especially being small are not likely ot produce large crappie. They go home with someone too quickly
