I might hit up Palmer and Monument lake on my way back from turkey hunting this weekend. How's the fishing for the perch, bluegill, and bass? I have never fished Palmer before any tips on where to fish from shore would be helpful.

I'm 90% sure that I'm fishing it Friday morning. Mainly pike. Don't know about perch, I may have some tricks up my sleeve. I will post back with results. It's very shallow and the main drags will be occupied almost undoubtedly. If you have waders, make an effort to bring them. I will be gaining all of the distance away from other anglers by doing this. I've never left fishless though. Don't expect monsters and if anything ends up being over 3lbs for a pike that is a good day. Cold morning it shall be, windy maybe, and me? Well, I'll be loving it!

Horrible conditions. 25% of the lake is less than a foot in depth. Super muddy shorelines, trash everywhere, weedy throughout most of the lake. Bait fishermen weren't catching and I didn't catch any. I was aiming for pike the entire time and had more than a dozen trout hits though. I would spend my time fighting the crowds at Monument if you get to read this in time.
Yep, it is one rough looking puddle. Some people have that lake down and can still catch fish even in the toughest conditions. I think I will be skipping it for a while.
Yeah, the weeds are thick. We have still been pulling a few really nice perch out of there using bait about 5 feet under bobbers near the main parking lot.
Monument was kicking out lots of trout last Sat. It gets full quick so you have to fish it in the am. Minnows under a bobber is the ticket. That is how you divide the trout from the perch.

Fished Palmer Lake yesterday. I didn't expect much but was quite suprised at what I drug out of that little puddle! 5.5 lbs. and 28" long. On Friday, my husband fished Palmer Lake as well. He caught an 18" pike and a couple trout but didn't keep any of them.

Oh, dang... There it is! I have heard stories of the 30" class fish in there but you know how urban legends go! I have been trying too (with large chunks of cutbait). What a strange little lake! Absolutely awesome! CC13
Those weeds are a blessing and not a curse if you know what I mean. Can you imagine if Palmer had the kind of drive-through traffic that Monument gets? Those weeds will keep the pike thriving and the faint-of-heart fishermen far away!
Wow..That's a nice fish. You just knew a monster or two like that was lurking in there. Amazing how a fish like that survived the Winter. I tried to fish out there on the ice, and just out from the little cove area it was +/- 2 ft. deep.
It's a nice little place to fish, albeit sometimes grossly overcrowded. I've been there and been checked for license and limit, though, which is good. I'm not talking once or twice, I've been checked often. I've wondered about Palmer..Is there some way to divert water to the lake from up above? Those of you that are familiar with the area know what I mean by up above. It would seem to me that there has to be a way to sustain the water in there. I'm glad they are still there and biting, though.
Sighned up for my fish explorer account about 3 weeks ago haven't got a chance to make a post until I caught this monster northern pike. Weighed about 12 pounds and was 32 inches long! First pike I ever caught and first time fishing at palmer lake. Awesome catch but no release we grillin that bad boy right now.

Did you mean NOT possible. Or was that a question. You don't have to worry about being rude. And the scale said 12 lbs maybe it was off by some ounces but that thing was heavy
