Anyone catching them in the pond behind Loveland High?
Post By: agt      Posted: 10/16/2011 9:42:33 AM     Points: 120
I have heard that people have caught bullheads in the pond behind Loveland High (I think its called Benson pond). Any advice?
Thanks,
AGT

Worms on the bottom.

How about chicken livers? Do they work? How big are they and how many do you usually catch?

I also have done well with worms

I don't fish that pond but bullheads like to bite worms on the bottom. You don't need anything fancy. Just a couple split shot in front of a baitholder with a gob of worms.

How late do you have to go to catch them?
Or, can you catch them in the middle of the day? Where do you usually catch bullhead?

Bullheads bite is always on. BFF has it right with worms on the bottom. I enjoy slowly dragging crawlers for LMB's and SMB's, but alot of times I can't keep them off my line! There's a fun lil' carp pond by my house in longmont that I use dough balls and corn as bait, and the bullheads seem to love it as well...

Good luck!

That pond is in north lake park and there are tons of bullheads in there. if you had enough worms, you could easily bring 50 or more in within a couple hours. big carp in that pond too.

I'm assuming you're looking to harvest some for eating? How do you cook it, like a catfish? When I was 5 or 6 my brother and I fried up some bullhead eggs...I'll try anything once! Just curious, I'm not looking to cook some up myself.
