Where did the cats go?
Post By: JJN      Posted: 10/6/2011 4:43:34 PM     Points: 3
I had been killing the channel cats this summer fishing of course with chicken livers, but then in September they stopped biting. I've fished off the pier and caught ones 4-6 lbs and my brother-in-law pulled in a 30+ lb monster. Where did all the cats go?

I've been catching bass lately.

Any advice on fishing Jim Baker in the fall. I love to catch all kinds of fish.

I recently moved 4 blocks from there, so if you ever want a fishing buddy, let me know. I have gone once so far, but didn't catch anything. I see a lot of action on the surface but not so much with the bites.

I'd love to get some cats at some point though. Mmmmm.....

There is actually a couple of homemade catfish bait recipes that I want to try and I figured I'd test them there.

Ukoolele, I'd love to learn some homemade catfish bait recipes. That would be awesome. You are lucky to live so close. I've had a great time fishing Jim Baker and have heard encouraging reports from folks that have fished there for 10+ years.

I've been swamped with work lately, but definitely endeavor to make it out to Jim Baker when we get a break in the weather. I like to go an hour or so before sunset and cast around the rocks for bass.

I fished the north side for a little bit last week and my friend got a small mouth on her line (and very close to landing it.) I'm still trying to find where the cats went and in the meantime I'm learning how to cook frog legs. I've caught a few mammoth bull frogs at Jim Baker-- one the size of a rabbit!
