Hope everyone is having a productive season, I've been doing well, best fishing summer in years for me.
I recently purchased an inflatable tandem kayak, and I've been busy hurting myself on it in Clear Creek and the Chutes on the Platte. So, next week a couple of buddies and I are taking a 2 day float from State Bridge to Dotsero, and OF COURSE I'll be fishing the entire stretch.
Because I'm packing my kayak full of camping gear, I'll only have room for my ultralight spin rod and a small tackle box. I've never fished this stretch of the Colorado, and from the looks of things, it's brown trout territory.
So, given an ultralight spin rig, and the ability to cover the entire river from a kayak, what kinds of lures and set ups would you bring along and use? I'm thinking Mepps and Rooster Tails, as well as some floating Rapalas, but what do you think of a fly and bubble on the flatwater sections? Since I'll be drifting along, I'm wondering if drifting a slip bubble with a streamer or big terrestrial under it would be effective?
Any ideas and tactics are most appreciated!
Josh
