Colorado Ice Fishing is simply one of the best things you will ever do. Dave grew up in the Vail area and went to school in northern minesota where he played hockey. Dave also officiated Ice Hockey in the Western junior League and has worked several Dallas Stars training camps in Colorado. If you don't find him on tourquise Lake you might see him running along the Lake getting ready for the Leadville 100 trail running race. It is one of the hardest coarses in the world...due to a combination of alltitude and terrain it is a but kicker. Anyone on the lake august 16th should keep an eye out for him.
I think you will find that some of the things Dave uses on the ice are some of the most basic techniques around. The deadly drop shot rig and other techniques are not out of the ordinary for trout and many other species. Vertical jigging for Lake Trout, Macs, Mackinaw are one of the most enjoyable and rewarding things you will ever do. If you can catch a Laker on plastics you can catch anything.
