Now comes the volunteer part of this project to re-stabilize and plant the banks that have been impacted by heavy equipment and instream work. Meet at the Valco Ponds Fishermen's Parking Area at 9:00 am. Our help is needed to complete seeding and placement of erosion control mats, as well as planting willow cuttings.
We need YOUR help to make this happen. Plan to bring waders if you have them, work gloves, water and weather-appropriate clothing. Our chapter is committed to bringing shovels and steel rock rakes (the kind with tines) for the work, so please donate any that you might be able to bring for the day.
If you are interested in helping, please reply to this eMail, so that we can get a "head count" for lunch. CMC TU has graciously offered to bring their chuckwagon for a hot lunch for everyone. Also, any questions that you have can be answered by eMail, or by calling Prez Ben Wurster at 778-3059.

Start the fishing season off right and make a real difference in Colorado on a very important stretch of water.
The Dream Stream is about 3 miles of impressive fishing water between 11 Mile and Spinney Reservoirs. The trout use the Dream Stream as their spawning grounds. In Spring the Rainbows head into the Dream Stream and in Fall the Browns take their turn. These are the more mature (read that BIG) fish. Just do NOT disturb fish on their redds. Here is a good description of the Dream Stream: http://www.coloradotrouthunters.com/dreamstream.html
The Dream Stream project is an important project. We will be reseeding areas that have been damaged or had noxious weeds removed. With a good turn out of volunteers the work will go fast, lunch will be provided, and you get the afternoon to fish. If that's not enough you will also receive one of CCTU's new Conservation T-shirts. WE NEED 40 VOLUNTEERS
Please call Jim Klug at 303-565-7504 or Jason Agin at 303-653-6057 If you have any questions or would like to join us on a project. THIS IS IMPORTANT so we can plan for Lunch and T-shirts. It takes about 2.5 hours to get there. We will meet at the ParkNRide at Dad Clark and University at 0615 to leave promptly at 0630. The project begins at 0900. We MUST car pool as parking is limited. When: Dawn 'till dusk, May 11th
What to Bring: Whatever you want to throw on the grill.
Alright...plans have been finalized. Our club will be having it's first All Day Fish and BBQ on May 11th at Horsetooth Reservoir. There should be people there from sun-up 'till sun-down and the BBQ will start at about 1:00 p.m. (after Yakin5280's kayak fishing clinic). I propose that we fish the north end in the morning and the south end in the afternoon. That way people can have a try at the whole lake (it's seven miles long north to south). I plan on being there all day long. I have a white Ford F-250 that has a sleeping pad screwed to the top of the tailgate (to protect my boat, of course!), if you want to meet up before morning launch at the north end. I'll be in an olive colored pro angler kayak. If you get there later...no problem!...just come on in. We'll see you out on the lake or in one of the many coves soon enough. At about noon we'll take out and drive everything down to the south end boat ramp area. Bring your choice of something to BBQ. I'll bring the charcoal and will go get it started around noon thrity-ish. We'll have BBQ down at the other end of the lake (south boat ramp area). There are a few really nice picnic spots just north of the 2nd boat ramp down at that end (you'll see...the point furthest away from the campground at that end). And, the term "Kayak" in our club means anything hand-launched.
Schedule
Dawn-ish: Meet at north boat ramp and fish north end of lake and coves.
Noon-ish: Make way down to south ramp area and get charcoal burning.
1:00: Grill!!!
2-3ish: Put in and fish southern part of lake 'till whenever (probably dark or later).
Notes about Horsetooth:
-Lake is really deep (160 feet at deepest), but there are flats, too.
-Smallmouth and Trout fishing is fantastic (right now) and Walleye is getting there, too, except that it might still be too cold for the Eyes to bite hard.
-There is considerable boat traffic on nice days...be ready for that. Don't worry though...the bite is usually better on those days.
-Lots of coves to hide from the ski-traffic and campsites for those who don't want to get up at 5:00 to make it up here by dawn.
-The rangers are active...don't plan on getting away with any shenanigans :-)
Post up if you are going to make it so we'll have a vague idea of how many.
