Fly Tying Gathering, Materials Swap

by: Matt Snider 11/13/2017
I was at lunch with Dave Coulson recently, discussing many things, including his batch of extraneous fly tying material that he wants to dole out to whoever wants some, and also my shoe box of materials I never use, and that led to an idea of having a gathering... get together with some friends, tie some flies, and swap unwanted materials.

So I chatted with the folks at Horse and Dragon Brewing Co. in Fort Collins, because I know Tim there is a big fisherman, threw out the idea that we do a gathering of fly tiers and fishermen there, and sure enough they got excited about it.

So that is that.  The first-ever FishExplorer Fly Tying gathering is set.  Monday, November 20 at 6:00pm is reserved at the Horse & Dragon taproom.  This is after their normal hours so we can have more than just a few people.

This will be informal - tie what you want, or just watch/chat/learn.  Bring your own fly tying gear.  Bring a small box of materials with your name on it if you have extraneous stuff clogging up your tying space.  Bring a bag and take home some stuff from other boxes if you think you can tie something fishy out of it.

This is FREE to attend, just please register.  H&D will be there to pour beers (which are awesome by the way) if you desire to sip while you tie.

Use the REGISTER button on Eventbrite to register to attend.

Hope to see you there!

Rest assured I'll be there. I've been working diligently on thinning my fly tying collection down. I currently have six liquor boxes of "excess" that needs a new home. Plus, there are six threat racks (wooden), under the shelf light, storage boxes, and if I get to it maybe some tools. Hope to see a lot of you tiers there.
