The Larimer County Fishing Expo Is This Weekend And It's Free

by: Tom McInerney 3/6/2014
Just in case you haven't heard, which if you've been on the site any time in the last couple weeks is unlikely, the Larimer County Fishing Expo is this weekend. While I haven't been to many fishing expos in Colorado, this one is my favorite.

Highlights:

-All the seminars!

All right, I know that doesn't give you specifics, but if you've been to an LCFE seminar before, you know what I mean. They are small and casual and great. You'll have a chance to shake hands and ask questions to some excellent anglers of all kinds. Dan Swanson, Chad LaChance, and Nate Zelinsky are the more well known names, and Chris Molloy will have some good advice for fishing from small crafts. And I think all the above would agree the best seminar is the one on Sunday morning with CPW biologists. I don't know if you're like me or not, but I've been checking the CPW site several times every day waiting for the 2013 Fishery Survey Summaries. Here's a chance to get that info from the primary source before it hits the site. Bring your questions!

Actually, a couple of 2013 Summaries are available for the Southest region. Also, the CPW website has a new layout, and I for one like it. Check it out if you haven't yet.

One last piece of useful info is that the whole thing is FREE. Both admission and parking. Last year, I think the weather kept some folks from coming, but this weekend's forecast looks nice. So, while I know it's tough to choose going to an Expo over fishing itself, this one in my opinion is worth it.

And the most current FxR thread with extra info here.

I won't be able to make it this year as I'll be with family in Winter Park, but I know many Fish Explorer members will be there drooling over gear, asking questions, shaking hands, and enjoying the atmosphere.

Fun fishing!
