Colorado's New Co-State Editor
by: David Coulson 11/1/2013
François de La Rochefoucauld said, “The only thing constant in life is change.” So true it is in life and here at FishExplorer.com.
As the first State Editor (Colorado) for FishExplorer.com, I’ve watch the site grow over the years, and we’ve tweaked and molded it to what it is today. The time has come bring some new blood into the Colorado position, allowing me to take on a larger role in Fish Explorer’s future vision.
As of today, we’ve promoted Tom McInerney, aka “opencage” to co-State Editor. Since Tom joined he has been gradually increasing his responsibilities by adding national and local news items, editing and gathering articles, adding and editing lakes and rivers, updating stocking data, and helping in numerous other areas. Through the process he’s proved himself more than up to the task of managing the site. Please join me in welcoming Tom as the new face to FishExplorer.com.
The evolution of FishExplorer.com is never-ending as we mold the website to fit our vision of the perfect fishing information platform. There has been nothing like what this website offers to fishermen, no models to work from – our path is continually defined through assessments and refinements based on feedback and trial and error.
Currently, we are working on changes involving our lake and river catalog. This summer we introduced our new membership system that has allowed us to greatly expand our inventory of fisheries. With the increased number of waters came the need for broader oversight to ensure accuracy and currency. To address these issues we are remodeling our Field Editor position to provide for added review and management of information, reports, and contributors for a specific region.
We are enlisting longtime Fish Explorer contributor John “Tiny” Stevens as our inaugural Denver Metro region Field Editor. Tiny has been a longtime supporter and active member of Fish Explorer. He regularly contributes blogs, conditions reports, forum posts, and is a skipper and lake editor to boot. Speaking of boots, Tiny Stevens has been instrumental in organizing and promoting the OG/YG contests over the years. Thank you for the boot last year Tiny, and I’m pleased that it’s been returned to its rightful owners! Further John is a member of Matzuo America pro staff, Born to Fish Media pro staff, the Colorado Walleye Association, a WFN Ambassador, and a Life Member of the NAFC. He also has received Master Angler awards from Colorado and In-Fisherman for multiple species. Please join me in welcoming Tiny as the inaugural Denver Metro region Field Editor..
Bringing Tom on as Colorado State Editor, improving how we manage information, involving Tiny in refining our Field Editor system, and positioning myself so I can be involved with more facets of the website will help shape the next phase of Fish Explorer. Over the seven years of growth, Fish Explorer philosophy has stayed the same, anglers helping anglers. That will remain the same as we move forward to what I believe will be an even better FishExplorer.com.

Grats Tiny and Tom! I hope we indeed see some changes for the better. When I first read the lead-in, I thought we might have cause to celebrate with cake. ) Sometimes 'change' is just a fancy way of saying status quo. I hope that's not the case. :)
