Baitcaster Basics!

by: James Strawbridge 2/26/2013

Hey guys and gals.....The bass fishing season is coming upon us fast, I know its snowing and cold right now ,but that will change soon. I noticed that some of the local ponds and lakes are starting to get soft, and for me that is great news!

Which brings me to the point of my blog. Last year I did a baitcasting class for some of our FxR members and it was a great success. So this year I decided to host another. This time however Sportsman's Warehouse in Thornton is letting me host it there. They will have plenty of baitcasters for us to look at and for me to go over. I will show you the basics and maybe we can cast a few. So if you ever wanted to become more efficient at baitcasters, have never used one, or just want to know which one to buy, now is your chance!

It will start at 2:00 pm on March 2, 2013 (Saturday) at the Thornton Sportsman's Warehouse. No need to bring anything...rods and reels will be provided. Hope to see you there!

I was part of the "class" that Jim did last year, and as for someone that had never used one, within a half hour I was feeling very comfortable throwing one and now I can just walk out and throw a baitcaster and not worry too much bout backlash even in the wind,if you have the time stop in a listen to what he has to say and try it out

Thanks for the class last year! After taking your class I had confidence in using a baitcaster. I stuck with it and ended up giving away all of my spin cast reels. I really appreciate it!

Aye, Jim is a good teacher. Hopefully he can do a few classes at the Sportsmans in Loveland so we can go fishing together afterwards!

Gotta say... Great class Jim & Sharon! Very much appreciated your time and info on baitcasting. I'm all setup with my baitcast rod/reel and already started flippin it in the backyard. Lookin' forward to fishing with you in the near future.

Kind of you to do these classes, Jim. I second Coyute's suggestion for one at the Loveland SW, particularly to learn pitching/flipping techniques.

Adam.... I will try to get my seminar schedule on the FxR calendar. Keep checking it often. Spinn3r.....I will try to get one at the Loveland location. Check the FxR calendar for up coming seminars.
