First off, it was nice to see everyone at the ISE show this past week and weekend. The show went great and it's always nice to catch up with friends in the industry. There were some new presenters at the show and everyone had great presentations, it's great to learn from other pro's and hear other opinions. I also have to give thumbs up to The Blue Quill Angler. The Blue Quill is a highly recognized fly shop in Evergreen who just got into the Ice Fishing industry this year. There shop is in Evergreen but they had a great selection of ice fishing gear down at the show including some unbelievable pricing. I was there on Sunday and they were having a sale on Vexilars. They were selling FL-20's for $409 which is almost $100 off. I have never seen a deal like anywhere before. He also had crazy deals on a Vex FL-8, Jiffy Propane Auger, and shelters (Clam Pro-TC, Yukon TC). I have done a few seminars up there and it is has been been great to work with that shop.
They have also stepped up to help bring a one of a kind Ice Fishing Tournament to Evergreen Lake. I teamed up with The Blue Quill to help build a 3 hour power Ice Derby. The event is 3 hours long on February 9th at 8AM. How the event is run.... We will mark off a certain section of the lake and on the morning of the event we will drill all the holes for the day. Registration starts at 7AM and at 7:50AM anglers can go onto the marked off area and find there hole. The event starts at 8AM. You are only allowed 1 rod and no augers or shelters are allowed. Just show up with what you can carry. Each angler can weigh in 3 Trout and at 11AM who ever catches the largest Trout by weight wins! On a field of 100 anglers the first prize will be $750. The entry fee is $35 per angler. This event is one of many for the day at the Evergreen Winter Festival. You can go to www.evergreenwinterfestival.com
to register. We have a limit on numbers of entrees so we highly suggest you pre-register. I can't wait to see everyone there.
