Yep, I have lost my chance to win $10,000 at Aurora this year, but not because I won't be there. It's because I am the emcee for the day's activities. In my book it's just as good. No, they aren't paying me $10,000, I wish, but they did make it worth my while. As emcee, I get to hang out and talk to people and use my voice to have fun. If you haven't heard my voice yet, you need to come out and see what the fuss is about. I will go deep for you guys on Saturday.

Back to the tournament! I got a call that they stocked 4,000 trout yesterday; the question is any big boys? I can't confirm, but my secret sources say yes! The big question is how do you catch them? Well, as a fly guy I know what I would do and since I am not fishing I am going to give you my secrets. 

I would use small Wooley Bugger type flies with an intermediate fly line. Flies like Thin Mint, Crystal Buggers, Pops Bugger should fish well. With these flies, cast out and make sure your line is tight to the fly. The tip of your fly rod should be touching the water, then strip them back to you with consistent strips. Change your strips is you aren't getting any hits, try strip-strip-strip...pause-strip-strip-strip-pause and so on.  You can also add standard nypmhs' like pheasant tails, hairs ears and princes sizes 14 and bigger.  When you get a hit, DON'T lift your rod tip just keep striping. Once you have him hooked then lift the tip.

I would love to see a fly person win the $10,000.
