This last weekend was a great time at the Larimer County Fishing Expo. It is always a blast to visit with some of the region’s best fishers. My only regrets are I didn’t have to time set through many of the seminars and spend more time visiting with all the knowledgeable folks there.
So now it’s time to turn my attention once again to Fish Explorer. Rest assured the to-do list is extensive, but I’m pleased to announce that something I’ve been working on for several months (couple years in concept) is the addition of Western Slope Field Editor, Robby Richardson.
Robby and I have been discussing his coming on board as a Field Editor for some time. We’d work on it a bit, and then either my or his schedule would result in putting things on hold for a few days (sometimes weeks). But we both kept plugging and today we Robby is officially a new state editor.
A passionate angler, he started fishing as a child, under the guidance of his father and grandfather, both great outdoorsmen. By high school Robby had already decided that he wished to share his passion with others as a guide. Attending Western State College in Gunnison, he guided Elk Creek Marina on Blue Mesa. From there he went on to start his own service, Sport Fish Colorado in 2009 with the help of his mentors and friends.
Robby's vision is to promote fishing in the beautiful state of Colorado by providing as much information and instruction possible in an effort to help anglers. He is doing this by teaching the latest techniques and technology so that they can succeed and have fun on their own. As Robby says, “After all, fishing is all about having fun and enjoying God's beautiful outdoors!”
In addition to informative blogs and skippering several waters, Robby also will be providing some great articles, the first of which I activated today, “Ice Off in the Rockies.” In this inaugural piece, Robby discusses tactics to make the days and weeks at and just after ice-off be truly magical.
Please welcome to the site, Robby Richardson, our newest Colorado Field Editor.
