The Drake Fly Fishing Film Tour - Colorado Springs - 7:0 pm
EVENT DEFINITIONS The viewing of pictures or videos of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate carnal desires. The sole intention of these depictions is to excite the viewer. It is generally preferred to view items that are larger that the norm, but this is not a universal preference. How the act is performed and the location the act takes place often contributes to the overall enjoyment. There are preferences within this addiction, but on a cold day in February any action will be viewed with delight. Participants are forewarned that the viewing of these exotic portrayals could produce a full blown addiction resulting in the loss of assets and a desire to not go back to work. The Fly Fish Film Tour is a collection of short films with this definition in mind. Check out more details here: THE FLY FISHING FILM TOUR GRASS IT UP: What is Grass It Up? They are a local band that will start and finish the event. The word "Grass" indicates the primary type of music they play. An acoustic-based trio that plays driving Bluegrass with the occasional Jazz, blues, celtic, rock or country tune. The word "It" refers to what is grassed up. They pursue the right mix of music for their audience, while serving their fix of bluegrass and any other genre that compells them. The word "Up" is referring to the style and energy that is used to express themselves in live recordings and performances - a unified sound for a collective audience. Check them out here: GRASS IT UP LINK PROJECT HEALING WATERS: The right thing to do. Project Healing Waters is a program dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active duty military personnel and veterans through the healing waters of fly fishing. This event is designed to raise funds to support the local program at Fort Carson. All production costs have been covered by sponsors and all proceeds will go directly to PHW. So bring your friends... Bring them all... And bring some cash for the $5 raffle tickets. (5 for $20) There will be some great prizes including a Sage fly rod, Av's tickets, Patagonia Deep Wading Jacket and more... Read the Testimonials here: PROJECT HEALING WATERS TICKET: A piece of paper that means absolutely nothing in regards to this event. The "ticket" for this event is green in color, has the word "five" on it and a picture of President Lincoln in the center. West Denver’s Fly Tying Clinic - 8:30 am
West Denver’s Fly Tying Clinic, a ritual of winter, a tradition of excellence Saturday, February 14, 8:30am to 3:00pm. The 33rd Annual West Denver Trout Unlimited Fly Tying Clinic will be held on Saturday, February 14 from 8:30 AM until 3 PM at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. This annual event pre-dates the commercial shows that are staged in Denver at stock show time. It is still a ‘home grown’ show which focuses on the art and craft of fly tying. It is simply a show for tiers by tiers. Sixty plus tiers are volunteering their time for this event. This show and our Fantasy Raffle are the two major fund raisers for our chapter during the course of the year. Without this income, our chapter activities would be severely curtailed. We are indebted to the tiers for their generosity in supporting this fund raiser. This event has become a winter ritual for fly tying aficionados. It has become a tradition of excellence for the our Trout Unlimited Chapter. It is a project that helps define us as an organization. We need to carry out our responsibilities to this event with respect for its history. It has been said many times, “It takes a village to raise a child”. In this case, it takes a chapter to raise this project. It takes a project to feed a chapter. Kudos should be given to the fine efforts over many years that Bill Searles has given in leading the management of our clinic. All of us should honor him for his dedication and hard work. Special thanks should be given to the ‘village’ of volunteers who have stepped up to fill his boots. It takes seventeen members to do the work that Bill did mostly alone! Please remember to thank them as well for their efforts in making this fund raiser happen this year.. The following people are serving on the management team for this year’s clinic: Finance Manager – Chuck Lehman Marketing Manager – Rob Medina Equipment Managers – Glen Edwards/Gary Blubaugh Concessions Manager – John Belt Beginner’s Corner Manger – Ric Tarr/ Fred Portillo Theater Manager – Cooper Swenson Fantasy Raffle Manager – Jon Weimer/Tim Toohey Bucket Raffle - Tim Toohey/Kevin Raley Registration Desk – Linda Miyamoto/Liz Treichler Chapter Table – Jackie Edwards Reception Manager – Liz Treichler Project Consultant – Bill Searles Media Consultant – Joe Cunningham Project Director – Charlie Horn Each of you can make a contribution by simply attending the clinic. Admission is $10 with children under the age of twelve admitted free of charge. Discount tickets worth $2 are available at local fly shops or on line at www. westdenvertu.org . We are also collecting contributions for Baghdad Angler’s Club & School of Fly Fishing. Individuals making such donations will be given a $2 discount on the price of admission. You may see what is needed by the troops by checking online at www.baghdadfishing.com/Donations.htm .
