Black Butte Lake, Orland California - Black Butte is well known as a top warm water fishery, especially for crappie, with the best seasons to fish in the spring and early summer. Water levels can drop significantly during the summer months. The lake is seven miles long with 40 miles of shoreline when full.

From Orland, follow Newville Road west 8 miles to Black Butte Lake.
From Interstate 5, take the Black Butte Lake exit at Orland, CA. Travel west on County Road 200/Newville Road for 14 miles. Turn left on Buckhorn Road and enter the Buckhorn Recreation area.
