Wishing Frank Villa, aka toobman Success at the Nationals

by: David Coulson , Colorado 10/24/2012

Personally I don’t follow fishing Pros, not sure why, as I have the greatest respect for their skills and the innovations they bring to the sport.

However, I received the following forwarded email from Audrey McKenney of the Colorado Bass Federation, “. . . I want to remind everyone (B.A.S.S.) Nationals is this week!!! Frank Villa is our big contender in Alabama. We all need to be supporting and cheering Frank on this week, as he is one-tournament away from the "Superbowl of Bass Fishing"!!!! Practice is Tuesday and Wednesday, and the tournament is Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I believe BASS will be providing coverage on their website. Chad Brekke (representing Frank at the Youth Director's Meeting) and I will be there cheering for him. We need to make sure everyone knows "COLORADO IS IN THE HOUSE" and Frank will be doing his best to be the "Best in the West"!!! Feel free to call, text, or email me for tournament information. GO FRANK!!!! GO FRANK!!!”

Frank Villa, is better known on FishExplorer.com as toobman (loves tubes), and blogs on occasion.  He is an active member of Centennial Bass Club.  His job as a Greeley firefighter allows him to fish frequently as he has four days off after each rotation.

Frank competes in several tournament series which include the annual Full Moon open at Horsetooth, The BASS Central Opens, The ABA Couples series where he fishes with his wife Echo, The CBC Team Series, and the Rocky Mountain Team Series. Currently Frank is the Centennial Bass Club youth director and helps with the Fighting Fish Sticks Junior Bass Club, and is the Colorado Bass Federation Youth Director. Further, Frank is sponsored by Naked Bait Co, Fintech, OBB Lures, Lake Fork Tackle, Mad Bass Custom Baits and Parasite Weights.

I hope you’ll join me wishing Frank the best as he competes this weekend.  I sincerely hope he achieves every bass angler’s dream of winning the nationals and the opportunity to compete in the Bassmaster Classic.

You can follow Frank and the other contestants at BassMasters.  His picture is slide 55 on the link 2012-fed-championship-contenders.  Also, you spot him on the fed-anglers-arrive-championship link slides 13 and 18.

Join me in wishing Frank the very best the next few days, as he competes in the 2012 Cabela's B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Championship being held at Wheeler Lake - Decatur, AL, Oct 25 - 27, 2012.

Good luck Frank.
